Chlorella (Chlorella Pyrenoidosa)
Chlorella is a single-cell green algae, and belongs to the eucaryote cell category of algae. The name Chlorella derives from two Latin words meaning 'leaf' (green) and 'small'. Its size is about that of a human erythrocyte; i.e .between 2-8 microns in diameter.
Throughout its 2~4 billion year history on this planet, it has survived because its tough outer shell protected its genetic integrity, and it is one of the most efficient foods on earth in using and concentrating sunshine
Chlorella contains high levels of chlorophyll, protein, iron, vitamins C and B12, beta carotene, 19 amino acids, "CGF" (Chlorella Growth Factor) and other beneficial substances.
CGF is a nucleotide-peptide complex derived from a hot water extract of chlorella. It is made mostly of nucleic acid derivatives. Researchers have discovered that CGF is produced during the intense photosynthesis that endue with chlorella unsurpassed growth capabilities.
Experiments with microorganisms, animals and children have shown that CGF promotes faster than normal growth without adverse side effects, and in adults, it appears to enhance RNA/DNA functions responsible for production of proteins, enzymes and energy at the cellular level, stimulating tissue repair and protecting cells against some toxic substances.
DNA/RNA:
The researcher found levels of 10% RNA and 3% DNA in chlorella, which would make chlorella the highest-known food substance in nucleic acids. Used regularly, chlorella would assist in the repair of damaged genetic material in human cells, protecting health and slowing down the aging process.
Nucleic acids in digestion and assimilation are broken down and combined with other nutrients such as vitamin B-12, peptides and polysaccharides. That means that the DNA and RNA we eat do not directly replace human cellular DNA and RNA, but their amino acid combinations after digestion and assimilation immediately provide the "building blocks" for repair of our genetic material.
When we have a sufficient intake of foods rich in DNA and RNA to protect our own cellular nucleic acids, the cell wall continues to function efficiently, keeping the cell clean and well nourished.
Claims:
Safety
Pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to use caution and follow the advice of their healthcare professional. Caution may also be advised for persons known to be sensitive or allergic to iodine.
Possible Side Effects
Although chlorella appears to be safe, no research in humans has been done to determine if the supplement causes any negative side effects. Mild side effects that have been reported include bloating and nausea, which usually disappear after a few days of use.
Possible Interactions
Persons taking the blood-thinning drug known as Coumadin (generic warfarin) are advised to completely avoid chlorella, or use caution and follow the advice of their healthcare professional because some chlorella supplements contain high amounts of vitamin K that may affect the inhibition of blood clots.
Dosage
Maintenance Dosage: 3-5 grams/day Significant Part of the Diet: 6-10 grams/day Immune System Builder: 11-14 grams/day Primary Source of Protein: 12-19 grams/day Healing Purposes & Heavy Metal Detoxification: 20-30 grams/day
P.S.: Broken cell-wall chlorella, is nearly twice as digestible as other chlorella.
